Our Year 10 students studying our DEC (Design, Engineer & Construct) programme were granted the opportunity to visit the new Network Rail substation situated in Bramley to gain insight surrounding civil engineering in support of their school project.
Enable, who delivered this project for Network Rail, provided the opportunity for our students to visit the substation before the project came to a close, which included meeting various Enable representatives to discuss their roles and the parts they had to play throughout the project.
They went on to explain the different career paths spread across each department from resourcing, design, hire and infrastructure. This gave students a real insight of the variety of available career paths which are not necessary surrounding site work.
Gill from Network Rail was also in attendance to present her role within the project, including the background of the purpose of the substation.
The planning and organisation of our visit was absolutely amazing, and we thank all of those who participated in creating this informative visit for our students. They thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity and had only positive feedback surrounding this experience.
We're excited to continue our relationship with Enable as we work through our DEC project and look forward to visiting future Kent projects to keep students engaged and inspired within the industry.
