Wednesday saw the start of our basketball league and two years in a row we have drawn Rainham Mark for our first game, who are very well known for their ability in this sport.

Nerves were high with the vast majority of the team getting their debuts. Captain Malachi rallied the troops together and has been working hard getting the team into shape.

Rainham Mark took an early lead in the first quarter. During the break, both myself and Malachi said about being more confident and having fun whilst playing like they do at break and lunch. This inspired the team and the motivation in the 2nd quarter was much higher. We finished the 2nd quarter only 1 point behind. Even a player for Rainham Mark was shocked by the score line!

The 3rd and 4th quarter were intense with some great play being shown and some good defending especially from Aidan and Samuel. We managed to match throughout most of the remaining game and kept within one point but a few silly rule breaks (3 seconds) from us meant we gave the ball away and Rainham Mark punished us for this. Final score 46 - 32 to Rainham Mark.

This is a very close scoreline and for a new team playing one of the best basketball teams in the area, this is a great result and I am looking forward to our remaining games. Well done all!
